Denise Burkard is an accomplished Human Resources
professional with broad experience working with
professional services firms. Denise has proven
leadership success in organizations operating in highly
competitive markets. While her expertise lies in human
resources, her skills in operations management and her
financial background provide her with a results oriented
focus. Demonstrated skills include strategic planning,
project and people management, human capital development
and education.
Prior to becoming a consultant with the St. Charles
Consulting Group, Denise was employed at BearingPoint
(formerly KPMG Consulting) as the Managing Director for
Learning and Development (L&D). In that capacity she led
the L&D team which was responsible for performance and
development programs for the 18,000 person workforce.
Focal areas included competency development through
online, blended and instructor-led learning, 360 degree
feedback for firm leaders, selection and implementation
of a state-of-the-art learning management system,
ownership of global performance management processes,
tools and timelines, and creation of a North
American-wide onboarding program conducted weekly in a
central location.
While at BearingPoint, Denise also led the global
Resource Management team responsible for deploying the
firm’s consulting employees on client engagements. This
included implementation of one global system to support
scheduling, establishing global processes for staffing
and creation of a team of resource managers in all
regions.
Prior to BearingPoint, Denise spent 16 years with Arthur
Andersen. During her tenure at Andersen, Denise worked
in many positions including finance, recruitment,
operations and human resources. As Partner, she held the
global leadership position in Human Resources for the
Business Consulting practice. In this capacity, Denise
led retention efforts, compensation strategies, Partner
recruitment and managed the strategy for funding
training development. Denise’s experience included a
multi-year assignment to Santiago, Chile to manage the
post-acquisition integration of a 700 person accounting
firm.
Denise holds a Masters Degree in Human Resource
Development from the George Washington University, and a
Bachelor degree in Accounting from the University of
Virginia. She has spoken at many training sessions and
vendor conferences.
